experience a Lucid Dream
Lucid dreams are actually times in which youre aware youre dreaming. This has probably happened to you many times before without you even realizing it. Except normally when you realize this youre jolted out of you dream. Being aware of your dreams is called lucidity, and there are different levels. When you have high levels of lucidity, its actually possible for you to control your dreams. Of course, this takes a lot of practice to master. - Get into the habit of recalling your dreams. This is one of the first
things you need to do before you can start having lucid dreams.
There is no point in lucid dreaming if you cant recall the dream once you wake up. The best way to get into this habit is to write down your dreams from the night before as soon as you remember them. If you wait too long, you might forget them altogether. Really try to focus on remembering the details of your dreams. You should try to be as descriptive as possible. You might even want to keep a piece of paper and a pen beside your bed in case you wake up in the middle of the night from one of your dreams.
- Create associations with your dreams. Once you start to recall your dreams on a regular basis, you may notice that some dreams happen more often than others. For instance, you may dream about being in a boat on the ocean, but you dont actually own a boat. You need to tell your mind that any time youre on a boat this means youre dreaming. The more you tell yourself this, the better chance you have of your subconscious telling you that youre in a dream the next time it happens. Once youre aware that youre in a dream, you can actually participate in it, as long as your conscious mind doesnt wake you up.
- Know the best conditions for lucid dreams. There are times when you have a better chance of having a lucid dream. If you know these times, you increase your chances of experiencing them. First of all, you should know that you have several dream cycles throughout the night. These cycles occur every 90 minutes and increase in intensity with each cycle. This means that lucid dreams are more likely later on in the night. Also, the deeper you sleep the better chance you have. You might find ways to help you sleep deeper. Hard exercise can help sometimes. So, basically towards the end of a deep sleep is when the conditions are ideal for lucid dreams.
