Brainwave Entrainment-
What Is It and How Does It Work?

If youve ever searched for self help or personal development information on the internet, you might have seen the term brainwave entrainment used.  While many people have seen or heard the term, few people actually understand what it is.  Brainwave entrainment is a technology that changes the frequency of your brainwaves to increase your mind power using sound or light pulses.  The frequency of your brainwaves actually dictates your mood and actions.  By changing the frequency, you can have more control over these things.  Now that you know the basics of brainwave entrainment, lets look at how it all works.

First of all, you have five main brainwave frequencies. They are Beta, Alpha, Theta, Delta and Gamma.  Each one of these frequencies affects your state of mind.  Beta brainwaves are present with normal consciousness, which is the majority of time while youre awake.  They are also associated with stress.   Alpha brainwaves signal a state of deep relaxation or light meditation.  During deep meditation or light sleep Theta brainwaves are present.  One step beyond those are Delta brainwaves, which are the slowest brainwaves and present during deep sleep or transcendental meditation.  Little is known about Gamma brainwaves, except that they are the fastest.

Each one of these frequencies has an impact on your thoughts, emotions, and actions.  If youre trying to achieve a certain feeling like happiness or relaxation, you would need to change your brainwaves to the frequency that is most associated with this feeling.  This is where brainwave entrainment can help.  Brainwave entrainment uses sound pulses like Binaural beats or Isochronic tones to guide your brainwaves to the frequency you want.

Binaural Beats produce a sound frequency, usually through headphones, that you wouldnt normally hear.   A different frequency is used for each side of the headphone.   For example one side might have a frequency of 200 Hz.  The other side would have 210 Hz.  Your brain processes both of these frequencies, but only the difference between the frequencies, 10 Hz, is heard.  After a period of time, your brainwaves will synchronize with this frequency.  A difference of 10 Hz would create Alpha brainwaves since their frequency ranges from 7.5-14 Hz.

Unlike Binaural beats, Isochronic tones create a strong, consistent rhythm.  Some say these tones allow the brain to synchronize faster than with Binaural beats, making Isochronic tones more effective for brainwave entrainment.   However, both have their advantages and disadvantages.  You might do further research on each one to decide for yourself which one you think is more effective.

The term brainwave entrainment sounds a little scary, or at the very least, complicated.  However, its really neither.  There are many benefits of brainwave entrainment, and its actually pretty easy to accomplish.  There are several online systems that will help you increase your mind power and get the exact results youre trying to achieve.
