Easy Ways to Relieve Everyday Stress

 

For most people, everyday life has become more hectic than ever. You have to deal with problems at work, get the bills paid, make sure the leaky faucet at home gets fixed, drive your kids to and from school, and bake cupcakes for that charity event you agreed to help with.  Its really no wonder that everyone is so stressed all of the time.   While you wont be able to get rid of all of the things in your life that cause stress, you can do a few things to relieve the stress.  Here are some easy ways you can relieve stress.

  • Exercise- This is really one of the best stress relievers. If you dont already get regular exercise, you might want to start. Exercising regularly will keep your stress levels down.  Fortunately, you dont have to workout for hours a day to see results. Even a 30 minute walk everyday would be good for you.    

  • Take deep breaths- Whenever you feel stressed or feel the stress coming on, you might take a moment to take a few deep breaths.  Breathe in through your nose as deeply as you can, hold it for a couple of seconds, and release it out through your nose slowly.  Keep doing this until you feel the tension start to subside.  This is a great technique to use, since you can do it anywhere at anytime without being noticed. 

  • Get Organized- You may have noticed that when the things around you are in disarray you start to feel the same way. This can cause unnecessary stress for you. The best way to reduce this stress is to organize your belongings. By keeping things in their places, you wont have to scramble about trying to find your keys or your other shoe.  This makes sure you can start your morning in a calm state that you can continue throughout the day.

  • Rest- With all of your day to day worries and responsibilities, its probably difficult to get the amount of rest you need. However, its one of the most important things you can do to relieve your stress.  You should find any way possible to get several hours of peaceful sleep each night, even if it means watching less TV and going to bed early. If you get the rest you need, youll be much more relaxed, in a better mood, and better able to deal with difficult problems without becoming stressed.

  • Talk it out- Sometimes the best stress relief comes from a friend.  Talking to someone about the stress youre experiencing can be a great way to relieve it.  Make sure you talk to someone that is willing to listen to you and not perpetuate the problem. There are those friends that have no idea how to comfort someone and instead make your small problems seem much worse, so try to find a friend that knows how to make you feel better.   The stress will melt away in no time.

 

These are just a few ways you can relieve your stress.  However, every person is different, so you should figure out what relaxes you.  You may enjoy a nice relaxing bath, or maybe being out on the golf course is more your style.  It doesnt matter what you do, as long as you relieve the stress before it becomes a larger problem.
